Give to the Be On! Fund

nmb

The Be On! Fund is designed to remove financial barriers for University students seeking help in emergencies.

Also known as the Nolan Burch Emergency On-Looker Response Fund, the crowdfunded effort bears the name of the WVU student who died in 2014 after a hazing event from an unrecognized fraternity.

Money raised will be used to pay for ambulatory fees, select medical expenses, and/or scholarships for hazing prevention efforts and reporting among students currently enrolled on the Morgantown Campus who qualify for Medical Amnesty under the Student Code of Conduct.

“We know that there are barriers our students face when deciding to take action,” said Matthew Richardson, director of the Center for Fraternal Values and Leadership and Project 168.

“This fund aids in removing financial insecurities while encouraging responsible social engagement. The legacy of Nolan Burch as a catalyst for change is embodied in the establishment of this fund. We hope other colleges and universities will take our lead and establish similar initiatives that remove barriers to emergency onlooker response. Only then can we expect to save lives.”
