Homecoming occurs in the fall semester during the week leading up to the Homecoming football game. During this week, WVU Greek organizations participate in many activities to foster relationships between chapters, which are are planned by a committee of students from each of our three governing councils, and involve fraternity and sorority chapters being teamed together for some friendly competition with other chapters.
During the spring semester, WVU Greek chapters participate in Greek Week, a fun celebration of what it means to be a fraternity or sorority member. Chapters are again teamed up together and a committee of students plan activities ranging from service and educational programs, to fun competitions. Each year, Greek Week is assigned a theme and each team of fraternities and sororities represents something related to that theme. In 2016, the Greek Week theme was "Bringin' Back the 90s" and teams represented their favorite TV show from the 90s.
BIG Greek Day of Service
In the Spring of 2016, a new tradition began with the inaugural BIG Greek Day of Service. This initiative was led and organized by students and allowed over 800 WVU Greek students to participate in 29 different service projects around Monongalia, Preston, and Marion Counties. During this day of service, members interacted with men and women from other fraternity and sorority chapters, as well as community organizations.
